Set Your Table Before You Eat

There is one quality that one must possess to win, and that is definiteness of purpose, the knowledge of what one wants and a burning desire to achieve it” – Napoleon Hill

Goals that are not Written Down are just WishesBefore you decide what your “frog” is and get on with the job of eating it, you must decide exactly what it is you want to achieve in each area of your life. Clarity is so important in personal productivity. The main reason why some people get more done than others is that they are absolutely clear about their goals and objectives. They remain focused and clear about what they want and act daily to make it happen.

Here is a great rule for success: think on paper!!

Those who write down their goals, create an action plan, and follow it through are much more likely to achieve their goals than those who don’t.

Here are some goal setting tips from Brian Tracy…

Step One: Decide exactly what you want

If you have a goal of achieving an incentive trip, or a car or the next level in your compensation plan… sit down and be really clear about the goal and when you want it.

I will ask myself …. what am I prepared to give up to achieve this goal? Why that question? Well, it gives me an idea of how serious I am about this particular goal and what I may need to do to achieve it.

Step Two: Write it down

Think on paper. When you write down your goal, it becomes clearer, more real. It becomes tangible. You can now own it and start to move into action.

Step Three: Set a deadline on your goal. Set sub-deadlines if necessary

Just like our ‘one page plan’… you need to write down your goal, then break it down into 3 sub goals before making an action plan. Brian also suggests to break down your goal. (If you did not get out free thank you gift please register on our site or facebook page).

Step Four: Make a list of everything you can think of that you are going to have to do to achieve your goal

As you think of new activites, add them to your list. However, move through the list one task at a time and set a deadline for each task as you go, so you actually complete them.

Step Five: Organise the list into a plan

Put the actions on your list into order of when they need to be completed. Organise your list by priority and sequence. With a written goal and a list of actions, you will be far more productive and efficient than someone who is carrying their goals around in their mind.

Step Six: Take action on your plan immediately

Do something, anything, but take action. For you to achieve success, action is everything.

Step Seven: Resolve to do something every single day that moves you towards your major goal

Anytime I am going for a specific goal in my business I have a sign that goes somewhere (fridge, mirror) with a question…. What have I done today to get me to my goal of _______?

That way, before I head to bed I know that I need to complete at least one task towards my goal daily.

So, what is the goal you want to achieve over the next 90 days in your business? Get out that piece of paper now and start to write….

Till next time
